Mark Kay has been windsurfing for 36 years, competing in national and international events, He became a National Champion back in 1991, ten years after his first national event.
He has seen many changes the biggest being a clamp on boom (heaven) and a retractable centreboard. He still remembers having to lift the centreboard out and put it on his shoulder to go down wind, then put it back in the board for the next beat.
Due to his success on raceboards he now helps as a National raceboard coach for the UKWA & RYA.
Currently Mark runs and teaches the National Raceboard Squad and holds training events throughout the UK as well as still competing at the highest level.
Marks dream was to have a world title and in 2002 he became Unlimited World Champion. After that he changed fleets to Formula which he enjoyed for a few years winning the 11mtr class.
After taking a break from windsurfing to raise a family and run a business he returned 5 years later to do some testing for Demon Sails this was only supposed to be for a couple of events but the sport grabbed him once more and he was hooked again.
