Growing up Crispin was more involved with team sports such as football and rugby but living by the sea always had a love of the water.
Crispin got into SUP in 2008 when his brother’s friend, Paul Simmons, showed them both a new sport.
They headed down to one of their local beaches and proceeded to fall in repeatedly.
“After a few attempts and managing to stay up longer than 30 seconds at a time we headed down the estuary and across the other side.
It really opened up the exploration side of SUP, although I had been to these places many times before in my life it felt somehow different and new”
By 2011 Crispin fell in love with the racing side of SUP favouring ultra distance.
He purchased Waterborn a leading SUP school based in Kingsbridge, Devon in 2017 and enjoys spreading the joy of SUP to as many people as possible.
