 PAST UK SESSION TESTIMONIALS

“Thanks for a most enjoyable, enlightening and challenging couple of days – not sure why I’ve left it 22 years before taking to the water again, but great fun and very rewarding.” Stuart from Itchenor

“Great session and really great tuition” Noel from Itchenor

“I am well chuffed with what I achieved with your help and I came away from the course with all boxes ticked. I’m not exaggerating when I say that you completely transformed my sailing from someone who was nowhere near the straps on a 145l board to someone who was flying around, fully committed in the harness, feet in both straps on a 113l board and feeling pretty relaxed about the whole thing. The course was exactly the right balance of talk, analysis, demo and doing – it exceeded my every expectation and I will definitely be back. All I did was turn up, listen to what you told me to do and things just clicked into place – brilliant!” Ty Owen

“Thank you so much for these two days of windsurfing heaven.” Amaury Lamy

“The two days were just awesome!” Niki Kern

Thanks to you , I feel a lot more comfortable planning in choppy conditions now (and may even shorten my harness lines more – and NOT grip the boom so tightly when hooked in). Then back to working on my gybes” Dave Taylor

Wow what a weekend! I learnt so many techniques, from rigging in a better way, how my stance should be for the varying conditions and various manoeuvres, just how far to lean out, etc. etc. Neil Mclauchlan

“Many thanks for sharing more of the Bornhoft secrets, I knew my helis were missing something and I’ll be improving fast tacks too. Duck tack’s next! Thanks again.” Mick Rothwell

“That’s great thank you. It was having the back hand as far back as I could stretch made all the difference and changing the feet earlier. It makes such a difference now as I’m not getting as tired and its makes a huge difference on the wave board in wave conditions.” Doug Jack

“Thanks for a great couple of days training. I really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. We were so lucky with the conditions. I feel as if I now know what to do when tacking – although need to spend more time practising. The early planning instruction definitely helped. And I made progress with the gybing rig rotation – keeping the clew upwind and ‘kissing the guns’ definitely my gybes at the end of the afternoon.” Martin Jones

“I’ve just got back from the first post-course sail (I was away at the weekend) and I wanted to drop you a line to say how much my tacks have improved. I got round about 50% of them, which is waaaay better than I’ve ever managed before! Still a long way to go, but the afternoon course has made a massive difference; thank you.” Graeme Burton

BORNHOFT UK DAYS ARE GO!

Simon Bornhoft Windwise UK Session kicks off in style!

Simon Bornhoft has just kicked off the first of his many UK DAY sessions. Starting with some Advanced and WaveWise courses we’ve seen a real mix of conditions and some pretty determined action on the water. From super high wind control last Thursday in a F6 with waves, jumps and survival gybes. Then over the weekend fine tuning the intricacies of hovering, positioning, tacking and helicopter tacking short boards, we covered a lot in a short space of time.

WA WINDWISE CLINICS

Safety Bay, Swan River & Lancelin clinics are go!
By Simon Bornhoft

Windwise client Steve Fletcher takes Bornhoft’s kit for a spin during a gybing video session! Nice gybe Steve! See you in Lancelin

We’re now well into our Freeride and Freewave courses here in Perth. I’m always very grateful for the wonderful welcome and hospitality. It’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to coach and meet so many keen and dedicated windsurfers who revel in the excellent conditions in and around this beautiful and often windy city!

We started with our 3 day course in Safety Bay with three excelent days, sailing until we couldn’t hold on any longer every day. With a mix of skills and planing conditions, everyone sailed really well and learnt a lot. We then moved into the Swan River for our Melville Waters course but we ended up sailing at Pelican Point, where we had the some early morning Easterly winds and lighter afternoon winds for skills & drills. We spent nearly 5 hours on the water each day working through fast tacks, gybes, duck gybes and a whole range of key skills that make all the difference. There were even some swithced stance duck gybes going on!

So I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who’s joined the courses so far, we certainly covered a lot skills and made the most of the conditions and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

In fact, some of you are coming up to Lancelin for the next leg of our WA Tour!

More on that later….in the meantime, sheet in, look, lean and lever that rig through those corners.

See you on the water soon. Simon
