The world's finest boards will only reach their full potential with a good selection of fins.
It may sound rather a cliché but a board is only as good as its fin (or fins!) and how they’re set up. Without a good balance of fin and rig power, the board will either be rearing up out of control, or lacking stable directional drive – perhaps even sliding sideways in involuntary spin-outs.
The range of modern boards is huge but only with the addition of at least one additional fin. Starboard freeride boards tend to be supplied with a fin towards the large end of the range, great for early planing and sails towards the larger side of its range. In windier conditions pairing with a fin around four to six centimetres smaller brings greater control, speed and easier handling through the gusts.
Drake supply very high quality fins in all areas of windsurfing. Shapes such as the Venom, as supplied with the Futuras, bring very high performance, befitting of the test-winning board designs.
