The Lightning combines the best attributes of a race sail with the user-friendly appeal normally found in a good rotational.

Every sail is easy to rig and particularly forgiving in choppy or gusty conditions. The huge tuning range allows you to exploit the Lightning's “grunt” in low winds but remain in total control when overpowered, with minimal rider-input.

Shortened boom lengths in all sizes significantly improve control and gybing, with increased shape around head-height and below bringing more power. The two roller cams that lock in the power are accessible through zips and allow the Lightning to be rigged with cams off the mast for easier sleeving of the mast and to lessen the stress on the induced battens.

New additions to the range in the 5.3 and 5.8m sizes are perfect for rough water slalom and high wind freeride applications. From the 9.4 right down to 5.3m, the Lightning will power freeride and freerace boards to very high speeds with a minimum of fuss.

"Wherever I sail, the Lightning does all the hard work, taking the harshness out of the ride. For me, the X-15 is too rigid and heavy in windy conditions so I choose the Lightning, which makes life way easier!" - Marie Buchanan

Lightning mast choice

We highly recommend the Carbon 75 mast for the perfect blend of performance, durability and value. The very highest performance can be extracted by upgrading to the Ultimate Pro 100 mast.

The FreeWave 45 mast range is a very good budget alternative, with bend properties that perfectly match the Lightning's design.
