Mustang - Freeride for windsurfers under 5'6"

A few years ago we became aware that the geometric forces within the rig were very different for smaller sailors. We made prototypes with a lower boom and centre of effort, and then invited various riders, male and female, below 5'6" to try them. Without exception, their sailing style was immediately transformed. For the first time they were able to sheet in and lock the rig down to drive the board, where previously, the rig was lifting them and making it difficult to sheet in. This concept has been refined over a period of years into the Mustang you see today. The boom is lowered at both ends by about 12cm but it's what you can't see that makes the biggest difference. A lower centre of effort and a leech that reacts under a lighter boom loading are the keys. Smaller, lighter sailors will feel much more comfortable with this sail. It's similar in concept to the Thunderbird T3 and all the same comments apply. The Mustang is an outstanding freeride sail that combines true high performance with comfort and control for smaller and medium sized people.
